Simple Fall and some fleas

Happy Moan-day everyone. The time change made my morning a bit more sunny and a bit less dark and night-ish. I like it :) I hope you are all having a great day. I wanted to share my simple Fall decor as well as some cute little treasures I picked up at the Flea market yesterday.

First - My simple Fall mantle. I played musical art this weekend and changed things up a bit. I made a new chalkboard and relocated my family sign to another wall. Here's my simple Fall mantle :)

I already had a foam wreath wrapped in thick cream yarn. I took some time yesterday to add some colorful stripes (my version of a Fall color scheme).

Last night my mom was over and said..." I like the new wreath thingy. But...is it for Fall? It's not really Fall colors. It's not shaped like a Turkey, why does it say gobble?" Haha - she's more of a traditional decorator I suppose.

My turquoise painted pumpkins get to stay out for November and I brought a bit of Orange back into my life (remember, I was not feeling Orange this season).

In the kitchen I Fall-ed up my buffet.

Last year my sweet friend Andi made me these adorable sparkly acorns and they look perfect on my branches...

That's about it as far as Fall decor. I'm trying to keep things simple in anticipation of a much more full Christmas set-up. Stay tuned ;)

I was lucky enough to sneak out and wander the local flea market yesterday morning. It really is my happy place so I'm glad it worked out. I got a few cuties while I was there (Christmas - of course). First I got this vintage ceramic tree (missing the light inside but I don't mind).

My neighbor growing up had one of these on her kitchen counter every year and I just love it :)

I also got this little box of cute little ornaments...

I think they would look super cute tied on to packages and they were only $1 for the box :)

I also got this happy little Santa. I love his sweet face :)

Thrifty find {LOVE}

Happy Tuesday people!!!!
This past Sunday was the perfect day! Absolutely gorgeous weather!! My in laws were SO kind and watched my kiddos for me so I could take my sis in law to the Long Beach Flea Market. I am a regular there but she had never been so I was excited to show her the awesomeness. I even came away with a few (awesome) treasures. Wanna see??

First - my absolute favorite thrifty find to date....

Isn't this vintage chalkboard soooo adorable!? I am in love with it!!!!! It was the best $15 that I've spent in a while. Happy!!
Look at this sweet moo-cow. And those worn edges. And the awesome green color. {Sigh}.

I am so glad I "popped" on this. I would have regretted leaving it behind for sure! I need to add some hangers to the back and I think I will hang it on the wall between the kid's rooms. Love it!

I also picked up this gorgeous milk glass bowl. I have a $5 limit for milk glass pieces and I was sort of nervous as I was turning it over to see the price. Much to my surprise, $5!!! YAY!!!!

It is in perfect condition without any cracks or "flea bites" as the little chips are called in vintage land. I just love the shape and the details of this one...a true favorite :)

I also found this super cute milk glass swan (haha - even my sis in law approved of this little guy and she is NOT on board with my love for swans).

Again - a $5 milk glass piece in perfect condition. A must have!!!

Last but not least, I picked up some pretty white sea stars from the shell guy. He's there every time and has a great selection and great prices! I think I'm getting antsy for Summer because I've already started sprinkling beachy decor around. Living in SoCal, I think it's ok to be beachy all year round :)

I got the apothecary urn at Michael's with a coupon, and the realistic sand came from Pottery Barn. Yep - that's right, fancy schmancy sand. I couldn't find realistic looking sand anywhere else and I was trying to avoid that super smooth white craft sand. Not a fan.

I am so happy that the flea market didn't end up getting rained out, and I was able to cruise the aisles with my sis in law too. She found some awesome treasures also and I'm sure she'll be sharing them on her blog soon :)

Smalls.

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Josh took Noah on a movie date, Hayden is napping, and I have the quiet house all to myself. Ahhh, paradise. Anyway, this past Friday I had the pleasure of spending some rare kid-free time with my close friend Kelly (aka Bubba-loo photography). We saw the movie "The Vow" together (which was a super cute chick flick) and then she took me to this awesome estate sale place that she frequents. I think what they do is take all of the leftover junk that doesn't sell at estate sales and sell it out of this big junky type warehouse place. Needless to say, there is a definite mix of pure trash and awesome treasures there. Just my kind of place. I came away with a few "smalls,"  and it felt great to thrift. If I haven't mentioned it before, I have been in a thrifty rut lately.

I got 2 beautiful vintage sheets to make some pretty buntings with:

I got an awesome milk glass batter bowl and a pretty footed plate (hard to see the footed part in the pic). I'm a sucker for anything milk glass.

Of course I had to take home this sweet little swan. I have been very picky about my swans lately :)

And I found a pretty vintage book that has just the perfect "old" looking pages for my many book page projects :)

I scored everything, the 2 sheets, bowl, plate, swan, & book all for $8. Sweet :) I can't wait to go back there again to see what else I can find!

Ok, so it's not actually "old" old.

As many of you may know, I love flea marketing. It's definitely one of my most favorite things to do! A while back I bought this stool at a flea market for $3. Luckily it was a small flea market because I didn't have my trusty flea marketing cart with me, and I hate having to carry my treasures around. It hinders the hunting if you know what I mean.

I had been looking for an old stool to use as a plant stand next to my high boy in the den (I mean, den/office/craft room/guest room).

I liked the aged look it had, but I wanted it to pop more. I decided that I would paint it RED (I'm kinda lovin' the red, aqua, white, thing I have happening in my house right now), and I also thought it would look cool if I taped off the bottom of the legs before I painted it. I flipped it over and taped up all 4 legs...

...and then I noticed underneath the seat of the stool was a Bed, Bath, & Beyond price tag for $19.99. Ha ha! apparently my "old" stool from the flea market, wasn't actually old. But, who cares right!!? Ha ha!!! Moving on. I took it out back and gave it a few coats of red spray paint.

After it was dry, I took it out front and had a little fun with my sander :)

I think the legs look cool like that....gives it a bit more interest :)

It's ok if it's not old old, right? It's someone's old stool that is new to me, right? ha ha, it's not like I'm taking it to the antiques roadshow or anything like that! It's a freakin' plant stand, right!? Can you hear me trying to convince myself?? ha ha!!! It's not antique and that's ok with me ;)

I like it! It's happy, and red, and "new-old." Ha ha!!!

Final push for the Flea :)

Happy Tuesday!!!
Well, this is the final week of prep before the flea market. We have never gotten a booth at the flea before so I am both excited and nervous about how it will all turn out (fingers crossed that we sell sell sell). So, this week you will most likely find me out in my front yard finishing up some last minute projects or in the garage tagging my stuff. Down to the wire for sure!

Yesterday we spent the day outside and it was a beautiful sunny day. The kids kept busy by "washing" my car (look at Hayden's face...she's concentrating).

 These really pretty planes kept flying low and doing tricks over our house which made it extra exciting for the kiddos.

Oh, and check out Hayden's choice for summer footwear. Ha ha! ONLY to be worn around the house :)

Ok, back to project mania. My mom had these hideous old-school serving trays in the goodwill pile. These definitely belonged in the donate pile in their original condition. BUT, give me a few minutes and BAM! Revamped into something sell able :)

Some triangles cut out of pages from my thrift store atlas, a sharpie, some grey spray paint, mod podge, and spray poly did the trick :)

Hopefully these guys will find new happy homes at the flea!

The other project I finished up was this:

I sprayed the chicken wire gold for that extra glam look. This pic above is me in kindergarten, and below is my mom, grandma, and great aunt "back in the day" enjoying some dessert.
