Market research....

Hello people! It is almost Friday, woohoo! The fam and I are headed up to our local mountains for some fun in the snow this weekend and I can't wait! I popped in quickly to get some feedback from my lovely, smart, and honest readers.

In my Etsy shop, I have these felt cupcake/dessert flags....take a look.

I package them up cute too....

I have not sold one set.

I take that back actually. I sold a set of 50 flags in a custom color story for somebody's wedding cupcakes (which I think is an adorable idea - btw). But I haven't sold any in the colors that I have listed in my shop. Ever.

My question to you all is.....why do you think they sit in my shop and don't sell?

Originally I was charging $12 per dozen. Then I thought that might be a bit too high for a throw-away item (I totally rinse my sticks off and reuse them, but typically they would get thrown away). I lowered them down to $10 per dozen. Nothin'. Now, I have come down to my "lowest I will go" price of $8 per dozen hoping they will start to sell.

I'm just a bit perplexed. I guess mainly because I love them so much and use them for every occasion that is even semi-cupcake/dessert/cake appropriate.

Does $8 per dozen sound reasonable to you? Can you think of anything I need to do to tweak them? Do you like them as is? Do people typically just make their own cupcake toppers or buy the basic ones at craft stores? Any feedback you give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks friends!!
Happy {almost} weekend to you all :)

Opinions pa-lease etc.

Hello everyone! Happy hump day :)
I have finally loaded up my Etsy shop with spooky goodies so if you are looking to spruce up your haunted house, head on over and shop till you drop!!
The latest addition (back by popular demand) are the book page spider medallions...

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make these this year because I couldn't find these particular spiders/webs anywhere. Luckily, my girl Cassie came through and sent some my way. Phew! Close one!!

Now, for a vote. Opinions pa-lease!
My signature Halloween/Fall decor for the last few years has been my painted pumpkins...

As you know, aqua is my go-to color for all holidays.
As most diyers/bloggers do, I'm tempted to change them up a bit. My hubby wants me to leave them alone and loves them as is, but I am totally torn. Truth, I don't really feel like re-painting them. Lazy. But is having the same thing year after year a bore? Am I just rambling? I don't know. Thoughts? Haha!! Heeeellllp.

HaLlOwEen Invasion - Etsy style

My Etsy shop has been taken over by goblins. Ok - not really. But, I am trying to get a jump start on some fun Halloween goodies in the ol' shop. October-December were my busiest months in 2011 and I would LOVE a repeat of last year.

Take a look at what I have so far:

Book page medallions....

Fancy Schmancy Felt hair bows.....

And dessert flags......

I'm lovin' all of that orange and black ;)
What do you think, are you gearing up for pumpkin patches and trick or treating?! Keep the goblins off my back and go shopping!!! Lol.

I hope you all are having a great week!

Mr.Toastee

Happy Thursday Friends. The kiddos and I are headed to the beach today but I had to pop on to tell you what happened yesterday. Ok, here's the back story:

Before Hayden was born, I bought here this ADORABLE little piece of toast on Etsy. Ok, I know you are thinking, what!!? There is this cute Etsy shop called Yummy Pancake and she sells the cutest "crochet type" food items. I thought that it would probably be the cutest thing if my daughter's "security item" was a piece of toast. Haha, too funny!!! She doesn't have a pic of Mr.Toastee on there, but here's her shot of Mrs.Toastee. Isn't she adorable!? Mrs.Toastee didn't exist when I purchased Mr.Toastee, otherwise she would have been my choice.

Anyway, here is a picture of Hayden with her toastee as a baby...(approximately 11 months old)

Well, as luck would have it, Hayden is a typical kid. She fell in love with a satin blankie and Mr.Toastee never won her heart. But, it has been on her shelf looking cute. Until yesterday.

Do you want to see what I saw when I went into the kitchen yesterday afternoon??? Brace yourself.

DIPPED IN GOOEY CHEESE!!!!!!!! Seriously Hayden!!!?? What the!!?
Haha, luckily he cleaned up ok and now he is safely out of reach. Sheesh! Poor guy!

Just wanted to share my funny story. Happy day to you :)

Sweeter Sweets

HaPpY weekend everyone!!!
I've been a crafting fool lately and added another new item for my Etsy shop. I had a bunch of felt strips cut after making the fancy felt hair bows so I decided to continue with the fancy felt theme. Introducing the Fancy Schmancy Dessert Flags by OohLalaCo!!!

(Cute packaging is a must for my little shop so I obsessed spent lots of time figuring out the best way to package these little flags. Now they will arrive at their new home safely while looking cute at the same time. Yay!)

Here is a look of them in action....
(What? You don't bring your cupcakes outside in front of your old wood fence to take pictures? Weird).

They're very colorful and fun, and make your sweets taste even sweeter. I promise, try it!! haha! I plan to make some holiday color stories for these little flags too so stay tuned. Working with felt is fun and once I get going, there's no stopping me (and yes, I bought these cupcakes specifically for this photo shoot. My kids were not sad about getting to eat them after).

So, go. Go! GO SHOPPING!!! Haha, j/k of course. Hoping these little flags sell well. If not, I'll just have to throw a cupcake pity party (YUM).

Happy day to you people!

Fancy Schmancy etc

Hello there friends, happy day to you all :)
I have finally finished making & packaging my fancy schmancy felt hair bows for my etsy shop. If you follow me on instagram (my user name is arichardson79) then you already saw this pic.

Seriously....my thumb has been numb for the last 3 days after the scissor marathon it took to make these beauties. Not joking. I made a bunch of these fun bows and fumbled through it on my own. After I figured it out and got rolling, I saw this tutorial on pinterest. It would have been handy to have this info prior to getting started. Ah well :/

Ready for some eye candy?!

Summer Sorbet.....

Sweet Love.....

Sunny Day...

Ocean Dreamin'.....

You likey??! I likey! I'm discovering that I like what I make more than the masses do. Haha. Still crickets chirping in my shop but hopefully as I keep adding new pretties, that will change :)

And here's a pic that makes my heart smile....
Noah had his first Lemonade stand at the park on Saturday and had a blast. He made $29!! A cute little old lady drove by and just gave him money as a donation for being a cute boy :)
Check!

AND - my heart is also happy because my sweet hubby begrudgingly planted 3 big hydrangeas in the front yard (against his wishes). He's not a fan of the bloom but they are one of my favorites. It was a lot of hard work to prepare the neglected, sandy soil for plants, but he did it just for me. Love that man!

(I will try not to kill u).

Happy Summer everyone!!!
